Amelia’s Jewel is set to line up as a -125 favourite in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) when she makes the trek to Flemington for the first time this Saturday.
The Western Australia-based four-year-old comes over with a near-unblemished record of seven wins from nine career starts.
She took out the Group 1 Northerly Stakes (1800m) on December 3 last year before returning to contest The Quokka (1200m) on April 15, only to be narrowly defeated.
The plan has been to get her across to the eastern states, and this is her kick-off point to tackling the Golden Eagle (1500m) on November 4 and possibly a tilt at the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m) later in the spring.
Nine of the 14 gallopers set to line up in the set-weights feature are first-up, with Foxy Frida and Caste the notable contenders at +900 apiece with online bookmakers.
Wrote To Arataki (+1200) was the eye-catcher from the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m), powering into third position, while the South Australian-trained See You In Heaven (+1000) is third-up and sure to have a fitness edge on some key rivals.
Torgene (+1300) is set to make her return from Sydney, as is the Group 1-placed Pride Of Jenni (+2000) after giving a massive sight in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic on March 3.
The market takes a dramatic drift for the remainder of the field, with the likes of Shuffle Dancer (+7000) and El Patroness (+15000) friendless with online betting sites.
The 2023 Let’s Elope Stakes is race eight on the program at Flemington this Saturday and is scheduled to get underway at 4:20pm AEST.
