Punt Drunk Daily – 13/3/21
It is finally here Punters! The much anticipated All Star Mile is only hours away from being run and won, and hasn’t the build up been drama-filled over the past 48 hours? Anyway, we will try and bring you up to speed with what is going on in the world of racing. So sit back, relax, crack open a beer and find your Saturday best because today is all about redemption on the punt after a shitshow last weekend!
The Queen is on the drift
Arcadia Queen was reinspected by RV vets this morning to determine her suitability to contest the @allstarmile. The mare has not been passed after presenting with 2/5 lameness in the off fore and will undergo a third and final inspection before final scratching time tomorrow.

Owner Bob Peters apparently got a text message from Grant Williams, the trainer of his star mare Arcadia Queen telling him to stop worrying and everything is fine with the Queen. Well whatever Williams saw, the Racing Victoria stewards and vets saw something completely different as they have still declared her unfit to race with one final inspection expected early on Saturday morning. With the news of the second failed vet inspection, online bookmakers have started to wind back the price on the Mackinnon Stakes winning mare with now up to $4.20 available, after being as short as $3.30 earlier in the week. Williams has actually applied bar plates to Arcadia Queen, and if she is passed fit will race in them in the 2021 All Star Mile. Safe to say, backing Arcadia Queen is a hard pass from us.
Anyone got the winner for us in the Coolmore Classic today?
FORBIDDEN LOVE races clear with the Surround Stakes.

Despite taking a slight back seat to the All Star Mile, the Coolmore Classic today is genuinely a dart board job at Rosehill. Forbidden Love is a $5 favourite for the Group 1 event, yet with six other runners under $14 it shows how depe this race goes this year. Can Chaillot give Archie Alexander his first Group 1 win, will Icebath get the wet track she wants, or can the likes of Subpoenaed or Rich Hips bring up a deserved Group 1 victory? We are as stumped as you guys, however the betting experts at horsebetting.com.au have gone through each runners’ chances and with a bit of luck we can finish the race with a profit.
We better get to the bloody ‘Bool!

“How bloody good is The ‘Bool?!” is synonymous with the May Warrnambool carnival thanks to the legendary Ric McIntosh and the 2021 carnival was in the midst of the first lockdown with zero crowds. As good of a job Ric did providing the atmosphere, he will be joined by 12,000 punters on each day of the carnival after the Victorian government approved the special request. If it’s on your bucket list what better time to head to the ‘Bool than this year?

Punt Drunk’s best bet of the day
Tony Gollan and Jim Byrne combining with one who has won two in a row and is stepping up into listed grade for the first time. Socialising scored by over two lengths after unleashing a super turn of foot last time out and with decent form in the wet she should be too strong for this lot late on and look out for her in a couple of handy races in the Brisbane winter carnival.
