Albury races moves to Narrandera amid poor weather forecast

Albury’s Tuesday race meeting will be held at Narrandera because of a poor weather forecast.

An impending bout of adverse weather has forced Racing New South Wales to take decisive action. The decision has been made to transfer Tuesday’s Albury Races to Narrandera, a shift necessitated by the predicted poor conditions.

The move has been facilitated as a pre-emptive measure amidst predictions of heavy rain, with this switch not made lightly by Racing NSW.

Racing NSW, the state’s governing body for thoroughbred racing, made an official announcement confirming the fixture swap. This decision mirrors a consistent strategy adopted by the governing body to safeguard the welfare of the horses, jockeys, and all other race participants.

In the roller-coaster year of 2021, inclement weather conditions forced similar venue shifts in horse racing fixtures across Australia. Newcastle’s New Year race day had to be relocated to Scone due to a soggy track, and Queensland’s Magic Millions race meeting was postponed due to heavy rainfall.

The relocation has altered not only the location but also the track conditions horses will race under, with Narrandera offering a Soft 5 track condition as opposed to Albury’s Heavy 8.

Wagers placed on the Albury meeting are not impacted by this relocation with all bets placed on the Albury races are valid for the new Narrandera races.
