Co-trainer Ben Pearce expressed confidence that the quick back-up will not pose any issues for Acromantula as he prepares to contest Group 3 The Heath 1100 Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield this Saturday.
The seven-year-old gelding, who finished sixth in last Saturday’s Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley, was attempting to defend his crown but faced challenges according to Pearce.
“It was frustrating because it was a good run,” Pearce explained to Racing WA.
“He just reared up as the gates opened.
“If he jumped with them, he could have gone closer.
“He was only beaten 2.5 lengths.”
Acromantula is listed as a +3300 winning chance prior to acceptances with horse racing bookmakers for The Heath 1100 Stakes.
