Richmond premiership hero and GRV Board Member Emmett Dunne was special guest on 7Two’s Thrill of the Chase on Sunday.
Emmett spoke about how proud he is that the greyhound racing community has adapted its practices in a way which has allowed it to continue racing during the current pandemic, and he was also asked if there were obvious parallels between AFL and greyhound racing.
“Certainly…it (greyhound racing) is a competition and it’s a sport.”
“Last year’s Melbourne Cup and watching it on TV, (Hard Style Rico’s trainer) Luckie (Karabitsakos) after winning the Melbourne Cup, the way he strode down the straight – chest out, fists, arms, punching the air and grabbing hold of anyone and everyone he could.”

“One thing is Luckie will always be a Melbourne Cup winning trainer. It’s a bit like being an AFL or VFL premiership player, he will always have that with him.”
Emmett also spoke about the prominence of female trainers in Victorian greyhound racing and the positive contribution the sport makes to regional areas.
