An outstanding field of 11 are set to grace the turf in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on Saturday afternoon, with the weight-for-age feature sharing top billing amongst five massive Group 1 races.
Fangirl was closing on the heels of Via Sistina in the Group 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on March 1 and is the clear favourite coming out of that event according to horse racing bookmakers, with the daughter of Sebring listed as a $3.00 chance with Playup.
Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) winner Royal Patronage is the second elect at $4.00 with Picklebet and should get every chance to dictate terms to his rivals after drawing in barrier three.
Ceolwulf ($5.00) will be looking to turn the tables as the Joseph Pride-trained gelding steps out to the 1500m for the first time in the preparation, while Gringotts and Stefi Magnetica are holding firm at the $8.50 apiece with Bet365 as the only other runners in single figures.
Tom Kitten returns to Sydney after a barnstorming win in the Group 1 All Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington on March 8, and the Harry Angel gelding represents good each-way value at the $11.00 with Neds.
The chances don’t end there, however, with the likes of Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) winner Buckaroo ($26.00) warranting plenty of respect at the big odds with horse betting sites.
The 2025 George Ryder Stakes is the first leg of the Rosehill quaddie and is scheduled to get underway at 4pm local time.
