The seventh running of the Group 1 All-Star Mile (1600m) will take place this Saturday at Flemington Racecourse, where a field of seven will duke it out for the $2.5 million on offer.

Run at Group 1 level for the first time, the small but select field featured five runners who have tasted success at the top level, including 2023 All-Star Mile winner Mr Brightside.

Mr B will be looking to add a 10th Group 1 triumph to his CV, while Another Wil will be out to exact further pain for Brightside backers after rolling him when they met in the CF Orr Stakes (1400m). Throw in the likes of Tom Kitten, Atishu and Light Infantry Man, and suddenly this year’s All-Star Mile shapes as one of the more intriguing editions.

2025 All-Star Mile odds

After claiming the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m), Mr Brightside has been installed as a $2.50 favourite with horse racing betting sites.

There is $2.90 on offer for Another Wil to repeat his CF Orr effort and topple Mr Brightside, while Tom Kitten at $5 rounds out the single-digit chances following eye-catching run in the Futurity.

Atishu ($10), Light Infantry Man ($15) and Rise At Dawn ($17) have all been backed at an each-way price since markets opened, while Flying Trapeze ($101) is the rank outsider.

2025 All-Star Mile speed map

There looks to be a clear frontrunner in the 2025 All-Star Mile, with Rise At Dawn a $1.01 chance to be leading the field after 200m. Stablemate Mr Brightside is likely going to be in a stalking roll throughout, while Another Wil will be camped on the leader’s heels. Light Infantry Man will likely roll forward, with Tom Kitten, Atishu and Flying Trapeze all set to be rear of the field and looking to run on down the heart of the track.

All-Star Mile 2025 preview & form

Mr Brightside only gets better the deeper he goes into a campaign, so he is a must-have as he looks to become the first multiple winner of the All-Star Mile. The seven-year-old was only grabbed on the winning post by Another Wil first-up, and despite being there to be beaten in the Futurity, Mr B held out genuine Group 1 performers like Tom Kitten and I Wish I Win. Craig Williams will have him stalking Rise At Dawn throughout, and considering he is already a four-time winner at the Flemington 1600m, Mr Brightside will take some beating.

After such an eye-catching run first-up in the Futurity, Tom Kitten looks to be the toughest to beat. Market fancy Another Wil is a chance to find some trouble in a small field, as barrier one could prove tricky for Jamie Melham when the pressure goes on. Outside of Flying Trapeze, the remaining three runners are all a chance to fill the back end of a trifecta or first four.

It would be a genuine shock if the 2025 All-Star Mile winner was not one of Mr Brightside, Another Wil or Tom Kitten.
