Moonee Valley Racing Club will host another very competitive eight-race card on Friday night, with the first event scheduled to jump at 6:15pm AEDT. Warm and dry conditions are forecast in the lead-up to the meeting, and the track is expected to remain in the Good 4 rating that was posted at the time of acceptances. The rail will be pushed out to the +5m position for the entire circuit.

Best Bet at Moonee Valley: Just Like Gaby

Just Like Gaby was very unlucky when finishing second at this track and trip on January 24, as she was held up behind runners on the home turn and flashed home. The daughter of Pierata trialled up well before her first start of the preparation, which led her to be heavily backed with horse racing bookmakers. From barrier three, Just Like Gaby will receive the run of the race behind the speed and break her maiden in style.

Robbie Griffiths and Jamie Mott will combine with Charming Deel for the third straight start when the four-year-old mare returns to Moonee Valley seeking to bounce back from a second-place finish. The daughter of Dundeel settled worse than midfield and had to loop the field, which in turn gave the eventual winner a perfect cart into the race, and she was overrun late. After drawing barrier three, Mott can settle closer to the speed on the outside of runners, and if Charming Deel shows a similar turn of foot, she will prove hard to beat.

Best Value at Moonee Valley: Tadgh

Tadgh may have only won a Maiden Plate at Yarra Glen on debut, but the Ben, Will & JD Hayes-trained gelding couldn’t have been more impressive when doing so. The son of Brazen Beau didn’t jump the best, but he was able to muster along the inside rail to lead the field up to the home corner before kicking clear to record a dominant 3.25-length winner. With the aid of barrier two and Dakota Keane’s 3kg claim, Tadgh can push forward and replicate his debut performance en route to his second career victory.
