Ciaron Maher’s Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) winner, Duke De Sessa, is set to begin his 2025 campaign in the Group 3 TS Carlyon Cup (1600m) at Caulfield on February 8.
“He had a really quiet jump-out for his first when he went back and he was held onto, but today (Monday) he did a little over 1200 (metres), so he’ll be right to kick off in the Carlyon Cup, which is a mile race at Caulfield,” assistant trainer Jack Turnbull told Racing.com.
“He’ll probably head to Sydney after that for a race like the Parramatta Cup over 1900 metres, with his main aim being the Tancred (Stakes).”
Duke De Sessa has not been seen since finishing ninth in the Group 1 VRC Champions Stakes (2000m) on November 9.
currently has Duke De Sessa as a $12 chance for the Group 1 Tancred Stakes (2400m) on March 29.
