Nathan Punch celebrated his first victory in 22 months on Monday, partnering the Brian McGrath-trained Ellmaknifico to a surprising win at Pakenham.
The 29-year-old jockey had faced severe concussion issues, sidelining him from riding between August 2022 and March this year.
“It’s been a long journey to get back here, but I’m just glad to get the first one off the back,” Punch told Racing.com.
“I reckon I’ve had nearly 50 rides back now, so it’s good to get the first one and Brian’s always been a good supporter of me, so I’m glad to get one for him.”
