Hong Kong racing returns to the bright lights of Happy Valley this Wednesday evening, with a bumper nine-race program lined up. The rail is in the B position the entire circuit, and with some light rainfall forecast in the lead-up, the track should be no worse than a Soft 5 prior to the opening race at 6:40pm local time. Formerly known as Archo Nacho in Australia, Magic Control appears primed to strike, making his Hong Kong debut for the Jamie Richards barn. The son of Sioux Nation took out the Group 3 Red Anchor Stakes (1200m) before being transferred across, with the three-year-old only missing the frame once in five starts. His trials suggest he acclimatised well to his new conditions, and with Hugh Bowman taking the reins from the soft draw (4), expect Magic Control to get every chance to make an impression first-up.

Ma Comet was the best of the beaten brigade behind Camino at this course and distance on May 15. The four-year-old got every chance, swooping along the inside running rail and hitting the front before being swallowed up in the shadows of the post. Brenton Avdulla should manage to gain a similar run from barrier six, and with no Camino in this lot to spoil the party, watch for Ma Comet to finish with the head in front.

Me Time is yet to bother the judge in five career starts but looks ready to peak getting back to the Happy Valley circuit. The son of Cracksman had no luck after being dragged back to the rear of the field at Sha Tin on May 19, running into nothing but backsides when asked for the ultimate effort. Barrier six should allow Harry Bentley to take closer order, and with big odds available with Hong Kong horse racing bookmakers, punters should expect a bold sight from Me Time in this wide-open Class 4 affair.
