The Listed Lord Mayor’s Cup (2000m) features on a rejigged 11-race card at Randwick this Saturday, with four races held over from last weekend’s rained-off meeting at Rosehill. Heavy rainfall is forecast to continue in the lead-up, all but assuring punters will be doing the form for a Heavy 9 surface. The rail is in the true position for the entire circuit, with the opening race scheduled to get underway at 10:30am local time.
Lord Mayors Cup tip: Hosier
Hosier should relish the Heavy conditions as he heads into the Lord Mayor’s Cup third-up. He was luckless in his most recent effort in the Scone Cup on May 17, cast wide throughout and fading out to go down by 4.6 lengths. His wet form is elite, with all eight of his victories coming on rain-affected ground, so provided Blake Spriggs can gain an economical run over the 2000m journey, Hosier can figure at an each-way price with online bookmakers.

Bob Charley AO Stakes tip: Iowna Merc
Despite lacking match fitness after a 161-day spell, Iowna Merc was terrific on return at Scone on May 18. He was dragged back towards the rear of the field by Rachel King, with the son of Winning Rupert doing his best work when it was all over. Barrier nine should allow King to take closer order this time, and with the Heavy surface unlikely to hinder his blistering turn of foot, Iowna Merc should be barreling home down the centre to claim the 2024 Bob Charley AO Stakes.

Best Bet at Randwick: Gravina
Back-to-back minor placings have Gravina in good stead heading into this BM94 contest. The Matthew Dale-trained gelding flashed through the line at Scone on May 18 to get within a half-length of Coastwatch, chasing on the worst part of the track along the inside rail. Although barrier 15 may appear to be a negative, the inside should be chopped up this late in the program, giving Gravina the saloon passage down the middle of the course.

Next Best at Randwick: Missy Moola
Missy Moola almost made every post a winner at Randwick on May 25, but Konasana swallowed her up in the shadows of the post. It was a bold display first-up after a 168-day spell, with the quinella pair clearing out on their rivals. Getting to the 1600m second-up shouldn’t be an issue for the New Zealand import, and as the rain continues to fall, it should only help the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained mare’s chances.

Best Value at Randwick: Gelatin
Gelatin appears set to peak third-up after an eye-catching performance at Warwick Farm on May 22. The son of Snitzel clawed back the margin to 2.7 lengths after being asked to make a sustained run from the rear of the field. It was a glorified barrier trial for the three-year-old as he gets out to his ideal trip, and with barrier four allowing Rory Hutchings to sit within striking distance this time, Gelatin looks right in this at big odds with online betting sites.
