For the first time in 2024, racing returns under lights to Moonee Valley this Friday evening, where a competitive eight-race meeting is set down for decision. A perfect summers night is forecast for The Valley, and with the track a Good 4 and the rail out 3m the entire circuit, every runner will get their chance if they’re good enough. Friday night racing is set to commence at 6:15pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Moonee Valley: Ceremonious
Ceremonious gets our best bet tag on Friday night as he looks to break his maiden ranks at start three. The three-year-old gelding finished third on debut at Cranbourne behind Acid Wash and Vilnius, before going on to Geelong and finishing second behind Vilnius once again. He stays at the 1500m distance range (1514m), and with Damian Lane hopping on board, he looks the goods. If Lane can land the son of Pierro in the one-one from barrier eight, it looks to be Ceremonious’ race to lose, as long as he does not get trapped wide from the stick draw.

Next Best at Moonee Valley: Unusual Pearl
It was hard not to be impressed by the way Unusual Pearl disposed of her rivals at Sandown last time out, and we’re confident she can continue her winning form when she heads to The Valley. The Unusual Suspect mare was forced to work three wide with no cover throughout the first half of the race over 2400m, and still had the audacity to kick clear of her rivals in the concluding stages. Barrier two under Mick Dee should suit her perfectly, where the pair can stalk the speed throughout. With even luck on the home turn, we’re confident Unusual Pearl can kick us off as a winner in the opener.

Next Best Again at Moonee Valley: Satin And Silk
The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Satin And Silk was a dominant all-the-way victor at Gosford on December 28, and we’re confident the I Am Invincible filly can replicate her form the ‘Melbourne Way’. She draws barrier two under Blake Shinn for her Melbourne debut and looks poised to gain a relatively easy lead over the 955m scamper. Blake Shinn will look to try and break their rivals’ hearts, and as long as Satin And Silk can handle the unique aspects of Moonee Valley, we’re confident she can salute in the penultimate race of the day.

Race 7 – #9 Satin And Silk (2)
3yo Filly | T: Peter & Paul Snowden | J: Blake Shinn (59kg)
