Eight mares are set to line up in the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
The race is traditionally utilised as a lead-up event for the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m); however, in recent years, The Invitation (1400m) has become another likely grand final for many of these girls as connections look to keep their runners racing against their own sex.
The $400,000 feature is dominated by Chris Waller, with three leading chances in the market – including race favourite Espiona, paying +150 with online bookmakers.
She flashed home in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) behind the Everest-bound Sunshine In Paris, and the same can be said for stablemates Zougotcha (+200) and Atishu (+400), who find themselves on the second and third lines of betting respectively.
Sheeza Belter (+800) is set to resume for new trainer Annabel Neasham and rounds out the chances in single figures, while So Dazzling (+6000) and More Secrets (+2200) are the only other gallopers heading in first-up.
The only other form-line to assess comes from the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes (1400m) at Newcastle on September 15, with Banana Queen (+900) searching for back-to-back wins.
The Group 2 Golden Pendant is the sixth race on the Rosehill program on Saturday and is set to get underway at 2:45pm AEST.
