Blackcomb recently joined the Kris Lees stable and looks to be settling nicely with her new conditions, already producing a terrific win at Wyong on September 1. She went on to score by a length with a significant margin back to third and did her work stylishly, travelling from near-last to circle her rivals. The daughter of Vancouver takes a significant step up in grade on Wednesday, but with a perfect draw (1) to get a much softer run in transit, Blackcomb looks classy enough to make it back-to-back wins.

For Victory was a very well-supported commodity last start at Randwick on August 19 and was disappointing, only managing to finish mid-field behind Principessa. We want to be forgiving of that effort, however, as we’re convinced the Chris Waller-trained European import didn’t go a yard in the Soft track conditions. He should get a genuine firm footing on Wednesday, and with jockey Joao Moreira an ideal booking to keep the three-year-old gelding’s mind on the job, we expect a much-improved performance by For Victory.

Ithadtobezou is set to return from a 129-day spell for the John Thompson barn, and this is the time to back her. The mare by Zoustar has only ever found victory first- and second-up in her short career, and her barrier trials suggest she’s performing well again. She finished her last campaign in Listed company behind Red Card, and if she can hold that form, Ithadtobezou is a clear chance in this BM72 against the girls.
