Race favourite Think It Over has drawn perfectly as he chases a second win in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.
The Kerry Parker-trained runner returned from a long injury layoff when finishing sixth in the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m) on August 19 in a bunched finish.
Following that run, online bookmakers have installed the two-time Group 1 winners as a $2.25 favourite for Saturday’s $300,000 race.
The biggest danger to Think It Over’s chances is the Chris Waller-trained Hinged ($4.60), who finished fourth in the Winx Stakes.
Hinged has drawn barrier 11 under regular jockey Kerrin McEvoy and is desperately hoping to break a drought that stretches over 18 months.
Montefilia ($6) is another who comes through the Winx Stakes, and she caught the eye when hitting the line vigorously in her first run for new trainer Chris Waller.
The ever-consistent Duais ($10) finished on the heels of Think It Over and managed to beat home Montefilia in the Winx Stakes, a distance well short of her best trip.
Derby winners Major BeelManzoice ($61) are both set to step out for the first time in weight-for-age company as four-year-olds, with a crack at the Group 1 Metropolitan (2400m) firmly on the agenda.
Knights Order is back to defend his crown as he looks to strike first-up from a spell again this year.
The Chelmsford Stakes is race eight on Randwick’s 10-race program on Saturday afternoon.
