Racing will return to Sandown Racecourse again this Wednesday, with an eight-race card set to be held on the Hillside track. The track is currently rated a Soft 5; however, with rain on the forecast for Tuesday, expect the track to stay in the Soft range and possibly worsen as it chops up during the day. The rail will be in the +8m position for the entire circuit, with racing set to commence at 12:25pm AEST.
Best Bet at Sandown: The Devil In Her
The Patrick Payne-trained The Devil In Her will be seeking her second career victory when she steps out in a 3YO Fillies Benchmark 64 over 1600m this Wednesday. Last start this daughter of Sebring was very good in her first race out of maiden grade, finishing fourth – only beaten 1.3 lengths – to Elsie May at this track and trip on July 5. Now that she finds a slightly firmer track and gets the services of Billy Egan for the first time, expect this girl to show the blistering turn of foot she displayed in her six-length maiden victory at Tatura two starts back.

Next Best at Sandown: Arnold
Arnold had his first start for new trainers Ciaron Maher & David Eustace at this track over 1400m on June 28, where he finished third behind Bigolino and Magnetic Prince – both of whom he meets again this Wednesday. This four-year-old gelding settled just worse than midfield last start, slogging through Heavy ground before lengthening nicely over the final 200m to run into third place. With this son of Hinchinbrook stepping up in distance from 1400m to 1500m second-up and striking a firmer deck, expect Arnold to turn the tables on his rivals and record his third career victory.

Best Value at Sandown: Chatelaine
The Patrick Payne-trained Chatelaine returned with an underwhelming first-up run at this track over 1500m on June 14, where she settled on-speed but faded late to finish 13th of 15. Considering this daughter of Tavistock was first-up over a distance she has never won at before, we are more than happy to forgive that and back her in to perform much better second-up (6:3-1-1). Jake Noonan will be legged aboard for his first ride on this mare, and if he can find a position on-speed from barrier 10, Chatelaine can give her followers a good sight at double figures with most online bookmakers.
