The Brisbane Racing Club will host a very competitive nine-race card at Eagle Farm Racecourse this Saturday afternoon. The track is currently rated a Soft 5; however, with no rain on the forecast for Friday and Saturday, we expect to be racing on a perfect Good 4 surface. The rail will be in the +1m position for the entire circuit, with racing set to commence at 11:53am AEST.
Best Bet at Eagle Farm: Blaze A Trail
The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Blaze A Trail recorded his first victory of this preparation at Doomben on July 8 after finishing in the placings at his previous two starts during the Queensland Racing Carnival. Last start, this son of Criterion was made to travel three wide before letting down with a blistering turn of foot in the final 300m of the 1350m trip to nab Sir Warwick on the winning post. The five-year-old gelding will be on the seven-day backup for the first time in his career, but there is no reason to think he won’t produce a similar performance.

Next Best Bet at Eagle Farm: Chayse ‘N’ Artie
After finishing in the top four at four of his first five starts this campaign, the Les Kelly-trained Chayse ‘N’ Artie broke through for his second career victory at this track and distance on July 5 – defeating Hadouken by just over a length. The three-year-old gelding will be seeking back-to-back wins – with Sean Cormack retaining the ride – for the first time in his career as he takes on his own age group for the first time this preparation. This son of Flying Artie has a solid record at 1800m (4:1-2-1), while he is also unbeaten at the track and trip.

Best Value at Eagle Farm: Northern Express
The Michael Nolan-trained Northern Express will be second-up going into this QTIS 3YO Handicap over 1200m to close out the card. The three-year-old gelding slightly missed the start first-up at the Sunshine Coast over 1000m before flashing home late to finish in fourth place. This son of Better Than Ready has never missed the top three when second-up and has two wins and two placings from nine starts at 1200m throughout his career. James Orman has chosen to stick, and if he jumps better on Saturday, Northern Express can play a prominent role in the finish.
