Canterbury trainer Regan Todd has set himself a task tough at Addington on Friday – to emulate the success he’s already had at the raceway this month.
On June 9 and 11 (Friday and Sunday) he took three horses to the races, winning with all three.
Magic Dash was among Todd’s winning treble, with the trotter capping excellent form this time in with a strong victory.
With the way the four-year-old has progressed since his win, Magic Dash looks a decent chance of doubling up.
“I have been really pleased with him, he worked super [on Wednesday] morning,” Todd said.
“The 10m handicap means he has got a few to get around, but I am sure he will go his usual honest race anyway.”
Todd also starts stable newcomer Cheval Rouge alongside Magic Dash in race 2.
The five-year-old showed her share of talent in seven starts when campaigning in the deep south.
Cheval Rouge has trialled once ahead of her return to racing but that effort came before she joined Todd’s stable.
Her new trainer has her forward enough to run a tidy race, but he is wary that the mare doesn’t have the benefit of recent racing.
“We have had her two or three weeks now, we haven’t trialled her, we are taking her straight to the races,” Todd said.
“We have been happy with her work but she will definitely improve with having a race.”
Treacherous Miss couldn’t have been much more impressive in her debut at Addington a fortnight ago, the filly powering home from off the pace for a decisive first up win.
The filly is almost certain to get back in the field again after drawing barrier 8 in race 4 on Friday night.
“It was a really good win first up and I have been really pleased with her since then.”
“She has come along nicely.”
“The draw is going to make it tough and it is a massive step up in grade for her, so we will just have to see how she gets on.”
Todd isn’t the only trainer heading to Addington after producing strong recent results at the track.
Cran and Chrissie Dalgety will be out to extend their recent winning run with their team which is headed by Watermelon Sugar and Casino Action.
Watermelon Sugar will shoot for four consecutive wins in Friday night’s feature pace.
The three-year-old produced arguably the most impressive of his three recent victories in his last start when sitting parked throughout to produce a crushing win.
Watermelon Sugar will be out to continue his winning run on Friday night when lining up alongside his stablemate Casino Action in race 6.
