What Kembla Grange Races
Where Kembla Grange Racecourse – Princes Highway, Kembla Grange NSW 2526
When Tuesday, April 4, 2023
First Race 1:10pm AEST

Provincial racing heads to the Illawarra region of NSW as Kembla Grange will play host to a competitive seven-race program. We’re bound to be racing on very heavy track conditions on Tuesday afternoon, with a Heavy 9 surface already listed for meeting and plenty of rain forecast for the start of the week. The rail is out +9m between the 1100m-winning post with the remainder out +5m. This shouldn’t have a major effect on results with the main contributing factor being who handles conditions the best. The first race is set to get underway at 1:10pm AEST.

Kembla Grange Best Bet Of The Day: Beautiful Heart

We’ll be looking to bag our best bet in the opener on Tuesday afternoon, as Beautiful Heart looks set to break her maiden status. She’s been ultra-consistent in her four starts so far for the Chris Waller yard and continues to progress nicely despite still going without a win. She was first-up on March 18 at this course and distance, running into second behind Fall For Cindy. She tracked the eventual winner the whole way turning for home, but a slow tempo and lack of fitness left this daughter of Snitzel unable to chase home to score, rather screaming out to be backed next start. We’re happy to oblige accordingly as Beautiful Heart has found a nice race second-up on Tuesday and with the wider section of the track likely to be utilized by Kerrin McEvoy, should see her finish off best.

Next Best Bet: Bunker Hut

Bunker Hut is set to resume from a 23-week spell and has been trialling the house down heading into this first-up assignment. It comes after heading to the paddock from running into classy gallopers in both the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes and then was placed into Group 1 company behind Sharp N Smart in consecutive starts. They were simply too tough for this gelding out of Savabeel; but now with an eye-catching jump-out behind Passive Aggressive under his belt from March 21, and a wet track to suit, Bunker Hut looks set to take out a much more manageable task. Michael Freedman has picked out a nice race on return and with Brett Prebble looking to stalk his rivals over the 1200m, we’re keen to make Bunker Hut a bet on Tuesday.

Best Value At Kembla Grange: Forms Of Fear

Forms Of Fear is a horse at good odds heading into Tuesday afternoon at Kembla Grange and we think he can make an impact after switching from the Annabel Neasham stable. David Pfieffer has picked up this three-year-old out of Written Tycoon and since arriving is another one for barrier trial followers. His jump-out at Warwick Farm on March 17 was a lovely watch as he lead them throughout the 800m trial and beat home stakes winner – Blaze A Trail – in the process. His only career win came at this course and distance back on August 13 and was on soft conditions to boot, so hopefully our selection can handle the testing conditions. You’re getting a nice each-way price for Forms Of Fear and with some luck turning for home can be finding the winner’s enclosure in the second leg of the quaddie.
