Better’s Tart is in the form of her life as she heads to the Gr.2 Garrards ‘Premier Mares’ Championship Mobile Pace (1980m) at Addington Raceway on Friday.
The daughter of Bettor’s Delight has won all three of her starts this preparation, pleasing trainers Brent and Tim White.
“She has come back a different beast this prep,” Tim White said.
“She has developed into a lovely mare and what we always thought she could be. She has a bit of staying power now.”
Better’s Tart has drawn the outside of the second row and White said she and driver Kimberly Butt will need plenty of luck from that marble.
“It is a tricky draw, but she seems very well and it will be interesting in the first quarter of the race,” White said.
“The lower-rated ones make it a tricky race. They have drawn well and they get to push the button early, get a handy position and probably find themselves on the markers and potentially run in the money in the stakes race.
“The higher rated ones are going to have to do a bit of work and it is not going to be just given on a plate, which is good.
“I see the blinds have gone on Evangelist, who we follow out, and you would say they are going to be positive.
“We can hop on her back early on and see where we end up.”
White is hoping Better’s Tart can continue her form on Friday and into the coming months, with the Country Cups Final set to be her Grand Final.
“She will head to the next mares race in a fortnight and then we will just see how she is after that. We may head south for another Country Cups race and she will qualify for the Country Cup Final,” White said.
“She will target that in April and we will pick our battles. We always talked about her being a Country Cups horse this prep.”
