Metropolitan racing heads to Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club on Saturday afternoon in South Australia for a nine-race event. Perfect conditions are forecast for Gawler on Saturday, and despite the track coming up a Soft 5, we expect to be racing on a Good 4. The rail comes out 2m from the 800m-400m and then stays true for the remainder. A competitive day of racing is set to get underway at 12:17pm ACDT.
Best Bet at Gawler: Texan Windstorm
John Macmillan brings his five-year-old gelding Texan Windstorm to the Gawler 1500m having strung together four straight wins. This will be his first go at 1500m and despite that query it is simply too hard to go past him in a BM72 affair like this. Ellis Wong sticks on board and with his natural early speed and the aid of Wong’s claim, Texan Windstorm should be in a prominent spot throughout, most likely settled outside Heir Of Tavistock. On the improving track and with just 56.5kg on his back, Texas Windstorm looks a clear best bet of the day out of Gawler.

Next Best at Gawler: Anjopin
The Sue & Jason Jaensch-trained Anjopin has been in outstanding form so far this campaign, in fact since his fourth on debut he is yet to miss the top three in the remaining seven starts, The four-year-old gelding was an impressive winner at Morphettville on October 29 and despite being seven weeks between runs he looks to be one of the betters of the day. From barrier one and aided by Sophie Logan’s 3kg claim, we expect to see Anjopin to take up the running throughout and with a bit of freshness in her legs and 60kgs on her back, we are finding hard to see how Anjopin gets beaten in the final race of the day.
Next Best
Race 9 – #3 Anjopin (1)
4yo Gelding | T: Sue & Jason Jaensch | J: Sophie Logan (a2) (62kg)

Best Value at Gawler: Toyetic
The Aaron Bain-trained Toyetic is a genuine Gawler 2100m specialist having won both of his starts at the track and trip and we expect that undefeated streak to continue in this BM70. The five-year-old gelding has been quite poor so far this campaign albeit in tougher races, but with the drop back in grade and a return to his favoured track and trip, he looks a great each-way play with online bookmakers. The Sebring gelding gains the services of Ben Price and with his 1.5kg claim, Toyetic goes around with just 58kg on his back in what looks to be a massive advantage. From barrier five, we anticipate Price will take up the running, trying and snag a few cheap sectionals and if Toyetic is back to his best he is going to take a mountain of work to gun down in the home straight.
Best Value
Race 3 – #4 Toyetic (5)
