Metropolitan racing heads to Rosehill Gardens on Saturday afternoon for a competitive 10-race program. We should be racing on a Good 4 surface throughout the afternoon with very minimal rain forecast in the lead up to raceday. The rail moves out +5m for the entire circuit and should be playing fair throughout the day, as it did last weekend when we raced at Rosehill. Let’s try and find some winners on this outstanding card.
Best Bet: Frumos
Saturday should see the winning return of boom five-year-old mare Frumos when first-up in this 1350m contest. It’s been 98 days and two slick barrier trials since this daughter of Kitten’s Joy has returned to the races and looks to be back in terrific order based on the trials leading into this race on Saturday afternoon. Prior to that, her last appearance at the races on August 27 when beaten 0.5 lengths to Hope In Your Heart reads outstanding for this BM78 contest and if she returns with that form, on paper she’s clearly the one to beat in this field. She’s been luckless her last two performances and could even be undefeated provided things fell her way. Kerrin McEvoy takes the reins here and we’re hoping he can take luck out of the equation, find leaders back throughout, before letting down with her electric turn of foot. At her best, Frumos is simply too good for this lot.

Next Best: Garza Blanca
The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained three-year-old Garza Blanca looks very hard to beat in this BM72 contest in the third race of the afternoon. Bouncing off an outstanding win at Cranbourne on November 12 where he won by three lengths beating the likes of progressive types like Greece on that occasion. Garaza Blanca finds a similar quality race here on paper and gets a premium map from barrier three to replicate that performance. He smashed the clock at Cranbourne in race record time of 1:09.5 and showed why the team paid a hefty fee for this son of I Am Invincible. Jason Collett has been booked to ride and will look to take advantage from the soft draw, he should be close enough on this colt to strike late to score.

Best Value: Lord Olympus
We’re taking on the short price favourite I Am Me in the penultimate race at Rosehill on Saturday afternoon with the newly Annabel Neasham-trained Lord Olympus. Formerly with Mark Newnham he looks to be thriving under his new conditions after an eye-catching barrier trial win on November 28 at Hawkesbury. In what we hope can be a new tactic Lord Olympus lead in the trial and went on to win it well under a strong hold going to post, with that in mind for race-day we’re interested to see if jockey Tyler Schiller adopts the same tactics on Saturday afternoon. We understand why I Am Me is the favourite here, but the price is just way too short to stomach, while Lord Olympus should be a cracking each-way bet at around the $21 mark with top online bookmakers. He’s the play for us in a race with plenty of value on offer if we can take down the favourite.
