Kyra Yuill is prepared to endure another gruelling week to keep her weight down in order to ride Searchin’ Roc’s in the Railway Stakes at Ascot next week.

Her thoughts quickly turned to the $1 million feature over a mile after her and her four-year-old’s impressive performance to win the RJ Peters Stakes by a quarter of a length on Saturday at Ascot.

“It’ll be tough. It was tough getting down to 54kg. I’ll think about it (getting down to 53kg) the next 24 hours, but I know if I ride her I’ve got to do it,” Yuill told Sky Racing.

The 31-year-old has an outstanding record aboard the versatile sprinter/middle-distance runner.

She now has a six-from-12 winning rate on the Jim Taylor-trainer mare.

“She’s been a fantastic horse to me, and this is my second Group 3 (victory riding her),” Yuill said.

“Last year we won a Champion Fillies.

“First-up she was a bit unlucky (13th from barrier 14 in the Hosemasters – Asian Beau Stakes on October 19), but today she was in her prime.

“From that wide gate we had to go back. I would’ve preferred to have been back three with cover, but it didn’t pan out that way.

“I didn’t really move on her, but first-up it was nice to not knock her around.

“She’s never been better.”

Taylor was delighted with the victory because he still feels the best is still to come for Searchin’ Roc’s.

“She’s probably still a year off her best, but since she’s got a start in the Railway we’ll probably have to go that way,” he said.
