Racing under lights heads to Canterbury Park on Friday night for a competitive eight-race program. We should be racing on a Good 4 track come Friday evening with plenty of nice weather forecast over the next couple of days. The rail sits in the true position, as this is the first of many meetings we’ll have at Canterbury. Let’s find some winner under lights.
Best Bet: Black On Beauty
Black On Beauty looks to have returned in superb order and looks a clear best of the night type at Canterbury Park on Friday night. This mare by Zoustar trained out of the John O’Shea yard ran first-up at Gosford on October 27 going on to win by 1.8 lengths, she went straight to the front on the soft track that day and didn’t look like stopping putting a significant margin in her rivals there. She steps up in grade in this 1200m contest but should look to do something similar on Friday night. Expect Brenton Avdulla to ping the lids and take up the running early before using her scintillating turn-of-foot going for home to win well against what looks a deep field, however, our girl looks Group quality at her best and if she finds that on race-night it’ll be all over.
Best Bet
Race 4 – #4 Black On Beauty (6)
4yo Mare | T: John O’Shea | J: Brenton Avdulla (57.5kg)

Next Best: Huon
We tipped Huon when he won at Hawkesbury first-up on October 25 and we’re happy to be with him again here in race seven at Canterbury. This gelding by Kermedec won by 0.1 lengths but ignore the margin as jockey Zac Lloyd dropped the whip that day and he would’ve won by much further. His form heading into this BM72 affair reads well with a win over Group race placegetter Communist last preparation and looks to only improve after his initial win this time in. Hugh Bowman takes the reins and has plenty of options from barrier three and should be any worse than mid-field before peeling off the leaders and winning in stylish fashion. He’s a keen bet for us and at around $3 with top online bookmakers we’re happy to take the price.

Best Value: Vucetich
Vucetich looks a cracking each-way bet on Friday night in race six on the card at Canterbury. This gelding by Lonhro looks well over the odds after his first-up effort at Randwick (Kensington) on October 26 beaten by 1.6 lengths. He hit the line strong and with plenty up his sleeve going to post and stepping up to the 1550m here looks a perfect set-up here second-up to see this best out of this Robert Quinn-trained galloper. His track pattern of getting back in the run may not suit here at Canterbury, but with plenty of speed in this race, Tom Sherry will look to find the one-by-one here before pounce on his rivals late. He’ll get his chance to mark up career win number three and we want to be with him at the price.
