Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of runs from around Victoria that have caught the eye over the past fortnight.
#1 FABS MAX POTATO (Box 5)
Breeding: Jan ‘21 Bernardo x Fabriola Allen
Trainer: Andrea Dailly, Anakie
Record: 7 starts 1-1-4
Dale says: Having been placed in five of his first six starts, Fabs Max Potato was sent out a $2.10 favourite in a maiden race at Ballarat last Wednesday night. Favourite backers had their hearts in their mouths, however, as the 21-month-old chaser totally bombed the start and trailed by six lengths just three seconds after the jump. There was little reason to fear, however, as the son of Bernardo sailed past his seven rivals with ease and won running away in a smart 25.57sec. Results

#2 GRAND ORO (Box 1)
Breeding: Sep ‘20 Zambora Brockie x Nino De Oro
Trainer: Anthony Azzopardi, Rowsley
Record: 3 starts 1-2-0
Dale says: Grand Oro produced one of the fastest maiden wins ever seen at The Meadows when clocking a sensational 29.79sec last Wednesday and scoring by 15 lengths. Having produced two eye-catching come-from-behind minor placings in his only two starts prior, the 24-month-old speedster took full advantage of the red alley. The win was made more special by the fact that Grand Oro is a son of the great Zambora Brockie, who was also trained by Anthony Azzopardi. Results

#3 SODA SUCCESS (Box 3)
Breeding: Mar ’20 Fernando Bale x Sweet About Lola
Trainer: Max Auld, Tatura
Record: 25 starts 9-4-3
Dale says: Soda Success has a number of super impressive wins to his name, but arguably none more profound than this victory over 500m at Bendigo, in which he eclipsed a high quality field with consummate ease. What made the performance even more special was his winning time of 27.66sec, which was just two lengths off the track record in rain affected conditions. Results
