Western Australian galloper Showmanship has taken his record to eight wins from 10 starts after a terrific display in the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

The Danny O’Brien-trained seven-year-old was given a terrific steer by the world-class James McDonald from the inside alley, weaving through the pack to run down Prime Candidate, who was brave in second.

Showmanship is owned by leviathan WA owner Bob Peters, who McDonald said it was a pleasure to ride for.

“Pretty thankful to get the ride from Danny and Mr Peters,” McDonald said.

“They are always a force when the come over to the eastern coast and they seem to take a lot of prizemoney. He is a classy horse and was prepped up to perfection.”

“He is a real winner, he knows where the line is and is a pleasure to ride.

“Without doubt (there’s improvement). Danny (O’Brien) said there was plenty to come. I

“It was a lovely stepping stone, he got in well at the weights and he is a real progressive horse.”
