What Warrnambool Races
Where Warrnambool Racing Club – 2-64 Grafton Rd, Warrnambool VIC 3280
When Monday, July 18, 2022
First Race 1pm AEST

Another week of racing in Victoria gets underway with an eight-race card at Warrnambool on Monday afternoon. Following plenty of rain in the area, we are racing on a deadset Heavy 10, with the rail out 3m the entire circuit, so perhaps it will be best to look for genuine mudlarks who have race fitness behind them.

The day of racing is set to get underway at 1pm AEST.

Best Bet at Warrnambool – Just Johnno

In the second leg of the quaddie, we anticipate the Lindsey Smith-trained Just Johnno can bring up a third win in four starts to begin this campaign. This will be the first time Just Johnno faces a Heavy, but considering he has a win to his name on a Soft 7 and a Soft 6, we anticipate he will handle the going with great aplomb. Despite drawing low in barrier two, he is a genuine backmarker, and we expect Jarrod Fry will have this guy smoking the pipe out the back. With a genuinely run 1700m event expect, the race looks perfectly set up for Just Johnno to fly home down the centre of the track. The $2.20 on offer with online betting sites looks to be a touch of overs in a race like this.

Next Best at Warrnambool – Adelabelle

Out of Cox Plate winner Adelaide, the five-year-old mare Adelabelle from the Maddie Raymond stable looks the one to beat following a smart effort on Australian debut at Bendigo on June 30. Having bombed the start on that day, the bay mare managed to make up stacks of ground and did well to finish under a length off the eventual winner. The former Kiwi arguably would have won that race with cleaner barrier manners and if he jumps with this lot, he may just have a bit of class on his rivals. Harry Grace hops on board and from barrier nine, look for the pair to settle midfield with a bit of cover. If they are afforded that luxury, we anticipate Adelabelle will prove too hard to hold out.

Next Best

Race 3 – Silk #7 Adelabelle (9)

5yo Mare | T: Maddie Raymond | J: Harry Crace (59kg)

Best Value at Warrnambool – We Want Frankie

Having finished second in two of his last four starts, we are giving We Want Frankie from the Andrew Homann yard at a nice price. The seven-year-old gelding went down by over two lengths at Echuca on a Heavy 8 last time out and despite being a maiden on wet ground from 22 starts, he does boasts nine placings to his name on rain-affected going. Jarrod Lorensini will no doubt want to find cover around midfield and if he replicates a similar run from Echuca on June 25, he looks a great each-way play in the second leg of the quaddie.

Best Value

Race 7 – Silk #10 We Want Frankie (8)

7yo Gelding | T: Andrew Homann | J: Jarrod Lorensini (59kg)
