Belmont once again has the floor on Saturday in the west, with the Group 3 Strickland Stakes over 2000m the feature on this nine-race card. HorseBetting’s Western Australian racing analyst provides you with his best bet in the Group 3 event, as well as his top picks for the remainder of the program. The track is rated a Soft 5 and the rail is out 9m for the entire course, while the first of nine races is scheduled to jump at 11:59am AWST.
Strickland Stakes Best Bet – God Has Chosen
For some reason, this horse has it out for us in a big way. Two starts ago, we were chips in on Red Can Man in the Belmont Sprint, but God Has Chosen jumped out of the ground late to knock him off in the shadows of the post to make it three-straight wins. We then jumped on the bandwagon last start in the Group 3 Hyperion Stakes, but Kaptain Kaos was able to fend him off. The great game, eh? It was a horror watch if you were on the Lindsay Smith-trained galloper last start though, with Clint Johnston-Porter opting to ride for luck in the straight and it just never came. With even luck, God Has Chosen should be able to get back in the winner’s stall and turn the tables on Kaptain Kaos over the 2000m.

Best Bet at Belmont – It’sarayday
It’sarayday is the class horse on Saturday’s program at Belmont, so we are hoping that the talented three-year-old can send punters out on a high. The Simon Miller-trained son of Winning Rupert is being hyped as a Group 1 winner in waiting, so we expect him to be a major player later in the year during The Pinnacles. If that is to come to fruition, he should be taking care of this Rating 78+ race. Patrick Carbery knows the horse well, so he will put him to sleep early from barrier four and he should finish over the top of them.

Next Best at Belmont – Burnya To Survive
We are surprised to see the Jason Miller-trained Burnya To Survive go up at the healthy odds of $4.20 given that he is looking to make it five-straight wins. The lightly-raced four-year-old has had a spell since his unbeaten preparation, so we are hoping that he can pick up from where he left off in the summer. Although the son of Bradbury’s Luck didn’t set the world on fire in two trials, he seems to leave his best for race day, which is what we are hoping to see on Saturday. From barrier nine, Clint Johnston-Porter will look to cross the field and ride the speed, before giving him a bit more leather, which can see him extend away and win once again.

Best Value at Belmont – Senorita Dorotea
Chris Parnham can get a winner on Saturday in race four when he hops aboard the Sean & Jake Casey-trained Senorita Dorotea. The three-year-old filly ran second in her first three starts, so she was a very deserved winner last time out at Northam when sent around as a $1.25 favourite. The filly by Sooboog was a dominant four-length winner and Parnham went to Northam for the ride which was pleasing to see. While this is of course tougher, we are getting double figures with online bookmakers, so we are happy to step in. She looks the likely leader from barrier four, so Parnham will rate her well and give them something to catch.
