One thing that Racing NSW tends to do very well is get families involved at the races on Monday public holidays – so we are expecting to see big crowds trackside at Warwick Farm for Easter Monday racing. HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst presents you with his best bets and quaddie numbers for this eight-race program, which is set to begin at 12:35pm AEST. The track is currently rated a Heavy 10 and the rail is in the true position for the entire course, but sunny conditions over the long weekend will hopefully see the track improve before the first race on Monday.

Warwick Farm Best Bet – Mystic Mermaid

We have plenty of time for this filly and we are pretty confident that she will win a nice race one day. Mystic Mermaid – the full sister to >a href=”https://horsebetting.com.au/group-1-racing/” title=”Australian Group 1 races” >Group 1 winner Avantage – has had just two starts for two minor placings, but she’s had excuses both times. On debut, the leader and eventual winner got away with murder out in front so it had plenty of petrol left in the tank to fend off the challenge from Mystic Mermaid, while her second race start simply shouldn’t have gone ahead. It was bucketing down rain and the track was deadset bottomless, so we are happy to forgive. Hopefully the Heavy 10 track dries up a bit and she can get through the going, because she could blow this lot away under Tommy Berry.

Best Bet

Race 1 – Silk #1 Mystic Mermaid (8)

3yo Filly | T: Chris Waller | J: Tommy Berry (59kg)

Warwick Farm Next Best – Athelric

Athelric put it all together last time out at this track and distance to win dominantly by three lengths on a Heavy 8. The James Cummings-trained three-year-old has always shown a bit of promise, but he has been racing in some Group class races in Melbourne where he didn’t quite have enough ability. The son of Exceed And Excel sat up on the speed and was wide throughout but still put a pretty handy field to bed under Hugh Bowman. If James McDonald can replicate that ride from barrier nine, it could be another demolition job.

Next Best

Race 6 – Silk #3 Athelric (9)

3yo Gelding | T: James Cummings | J: James McDonald (59kg)

$3.40 with Bet365

Warwick Farm Best Value –

Ciaron Maher & David Eustace saddle up Nikau Spur in his second Sydney start for the preparation. The ex-Victorian had some pretty good form when racing south of the border and he looks to have held that based on what we saw in his first-up run when flashing into third at Canterbury. The son of Proisir will relish the wet track, while 1300m at Warwick Farm should suit his racing style which is to settle down midfield or worse and sprint late. Two starts ago he had an end-of-prep run at Flemington, and while he didn’t beat any home, Mr Brightside won that race which looks great on paper. He will get back again from barrier seven but hopefully Tommy Sherry can lift him home.

Best Value

Race 4 – Silk #1 Nikau Spur (7)

5yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Tommy Sherry (a1.5) (63kg)

$6 with Neds
