Victorian contenders Zara’s Ivan (Andrea Dailly) and Idolize (Peter Presutto) finished out of the placings to NSW star She’s A Pearl (Jodie Lord) in Saturday night’s main event at Wentworth Park – the $343,000 Group 1 Golden Easter Egg – however it was still a remarkably successful night for the Big V.

Gypsy Wyong (Andea Dailly) and Mepunga Ruby (Jeff Britton) made it a Victorian quinella in the $102,500 Group 1 Association Cup (720m), while Dailly filled the trifecta in the $33,500 Group 3 The Ambrosoli, with Lala Kiwi defeating Zippy Tesla and Daph’s Ascend.

Meanwhile, young Victorian trainer Kayla Cottrell also had a night to remember when Devine Empress took out the $55,000 age-restricted Group 3 New Sensation (520m).

“She came out better tonight and there was that clear passage into the first turn and she just took advantage of it,” Kayla told The Dogs post-race.

“She doesn’t know how to take a hard hit. She’s just determined and a super chaser.”

“She’s still learning, very immature and it’s only early stages, (but) I’m very happy with tonight and there’s plenty more improvement in her that’s for sure.”
