Moonee Valley is scheduled to host yet another eight-race card on Friday night, and HorseBetting’s Victorian tipster presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers for the meeting. The track has come up a Good 4, the rail is set in the true position, and racing kicks off at 6:15pm AEDT.
Moonee Valley Best Bet – Lady Adelaide
Our best bet of the night comes early in the card when the Patrick Payne-trained Lady Adelaide steps out over 1200m. The three-year-old filly by Cox Plate winner Adelaide comes to The Valley following a sound effort behind Marine One, who looks to be a colt with plenty of ability. At her last start, at Pakenham on December 4, she simply gave her rivals too big of a margin when settling last in running, but she did manage to hit the line with great intent. She steps back to BM64 grade against her own sex, which is a massive bonus, and looks well placed to bring up a second career win. From barrier seven, Michael Dee will need a touch of luck in finding cover, but this horse appears to have the class to make it work. Two starts back at Sandown she was beaten by a half-length when travelling three wide with no cover, suggesting she has above-average ability. At this price, we are keen.
Next Best Bet at Moonee Valley – Sacred Lass
The Phillip Stokes-trained Sacred Lass was beaten by the barest of margins in each of her last two starts, finishing second at the Moonee Valley 2040m in both runs. With four minor placings to her name from four runs this campaign, including three at the track and distance, she looks well placed to break through for a deserved victory. Having hit the front approaching the home turn on December 10, the Sacred Falls mare looked to have the race shot to pieces before finding one better on the line. Stokes keeps Madison Lloyd on board with her 3kg claim, which will only help. From barrier seven, look for Lloyd to have Sacred Lass settled close to the speed, where she should prove far too hard to hold out.
Moonee Valley Value Bet – Kermy
In the final race of the night, we will be hoping the Phillip Stokes-trained Kermy can return from a near six-month spell with a first-up victory. The four-year-old son of Kermadec hardly knows how to run a bad race, with two wins and five minor placings to his name from nine career starts. He was well beaten in a BM70 affair before his spell, finishing behind the likes of King Magnus and Ghodeline. With a minor placing to his name when first-up in the past, we know he will handle the occasion, and if he is anywhere near his best, we expect he will return with a bang and send us home a winner.
