HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst has picked out his best bets and top quaddie numbers for the 10-race program at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday. The track is rated a Soft 6, the rail is out 4m for the entire course, and the first race is set to jump at 12:20pm AEDT.
Rosehill Best Bet – Shihonka
We are hoping to bookend the card on Saturday at Rosehill as the classy Shihonka looks to record her third win in four starts. Trained by powerhouse stable Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, this three-year-old filly has a likeable racing pattern which sees her put herself into the race each time she steps out and then show plenty of ticker when asked for a response. Both of Shihonka’s wins have come on a Good deck, but she has placed at Listed level on a Soft 7, while she has won two trials on a Soft track and one on a Heavy, so the Soft 6 should be no query. From barrier six, Tim Clark will no doubt look to dictate terms from in front, especially with the 4.5kg drop in weight to 54.5kg. This race looks hers for the taking.
Next Best at Rosehill – Snitzonfire
Basically, copy and paste what we said about Shihonka. Same trainers, same jockey, same old story – jump, lead, win. That is exactly what Snitzonfire has done in his first three career starts, leading all of the way to win at Nowra on debut in September, before proving too good here at Rosehill as a $20 chance over the heavily supported Depiction, and then again when a $5 chance defeating subsequent Flemington winner Bend The Knee. This three-year-old gelding by Snitzel is looking to remain undefeated after four starts and is going to get every chance again on Saturday in this 3YO Benchmark 72 over 1200m. Waterhouse & Bott opted to give Snitzonfire a trial between his last run and it was the perfect tick-over, as he was allowed to just cruise in behind them to run sixth. If he gets the lead under Clark, which he should, we don’t think he can be caught.
Rosehill Value Bet – Amiche
Former Queensland mare Amiche got the chocolates for us and her new trainer last time out at Rosehill over 1100m, so we are sticking with her as she goes to 1200m against the boys. The five-year-old mare sired by Nicconi relishes rain-affected going, winning two from two on a Heavy track, as well as winning once and placing third in her two starts on Soft turf. Now with Edward Cummings, Amiche knuckled down to the task first-up to beat Undeniable and Oh Please Diana and now looks ready to go on with the job. She will get back from barrier 10 under Josh Parr, but there shouldn’t be any cause for concern there as that is what she naturally does. If the track is playing fairly – which we will know by the last race – she should take some serious beating once again.
