HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the nine-race card at Geelong on Tuesday afternoon, with odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Soft 5, and the rail is out 8m from the 1700m-800m and then out 9m for the remainder. Racing is set to get underway at 1pm AEDT.

Geelong Best Bet – Castile

In the second leg of the quaddie, we expect to see the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Castile build on his first-up third at the Geelong 1100m and appreciate the step up to 1240m on Tuesday. Having been checked for a run when building through the gears on October 20, the three-year-old Lonhro colt looked to have been a touch unlucky. From barrier two, with Jack Hill retaining the ride, we anticipate he will need a touch of luck at some stage, but if he is afforded that, he should be hitting the line strongly. Castile clearly has the most upside in this BM64 field and should prove too classy.

Best BetRace 8 – Castile (#8) $3.20 with Sportsbet

Next Best Bet at Geelong – Rose Quartz

The Grahame Begg-trained Rose Quartz resumes off a six-month break, and despite the $8 quote, we expect to see the five-year-old mare run a big race first-up. Having won on debut over 1100m, we are sure that she will handle the trip. Having chased home the likes of Imperial Hilton and Valaquenta in her initial campaign, she could be too speedy for this lot. This daughter of Written Tycoon has proved to be tactically versatile; she won on debut when settling up on speed, while she has settled off the speed and hit the line with intent in her other efforts. Despite not hitting the frame since her debut, Rose Quartz looks to have a touch of class about her, and with a bit of luck from barrier 11, we expect to see this girl return with a nice win.

Next BestRace 9 – Rose Quartz (#10) $8 with Sportsbet

Best Value Bet at Geelong – Inari

In what is a bit of a throw at the stumps, we think the Matt Cumani-trained Inari can build on her debut seventh and give the favourite, Salto Angel, a run for her money at a double-figure quote. Having hit the line nicely on debut over 1400m, the four-year-old Dundeel mare looked to have been screaming out for further, so she looks a decent bet over 1755m here. The $2.25 favourite is still a maiden after 13 starts and looked woeful when resuming four weeks ago. If Inari can show some natural improvement and hit the line with similar intent at Geelong, we’re happy to take the $12 on offer as an each-way play.

Best ValueRace 5 – Inari (#5) $12 with Sportsbet
