What Rosehill Gardens Races
Where Rosehill Gardens Racecourse – James Ruse Dr, Rosehill NSW 2142
When Wednesday, November 17, 2021
First Race 2pm AEDT

HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst has taken a look at the seven-race metropolitan meeting at Rosehill Gardens on Wednesday afternoon and now brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for the day. The track is rated a Soft 6, the rail is out 6m for the entire course, and the first race of the afternoon is set to jump at 2pm AEDT.

Rosehill Best Bet – Too Much Caviar

Despite the name, this four-year-old gelding is not a son of the champion Black Caviar; however, he does have a similar will to win, recording two victories from five starts and finishing runner-up on two other occasions. Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Too Much Caviar is coming off a last-start win at Randwick on November 2 where he led all of the way to win by just over a length. Jean Van Overmeire retains the ride on Wednesday, which is not a bad thing, and while the son of All Too Hard does rise 2kg to the 59kg, the inside alley should see him jump and lead. Out to 1500m should suit.

Next Best Bet at Rosehill – Atlantic King

Another runner who is coming off a Melbourne Cup Day win at Randwick is the Matt Dunn-trained Atlantic King. This five-year-old son of More Than Ready got a dream run last time out and got there in the nick of time to defeat Jojo Was A Man and New King over 1600m. Now fourth-up, Atlantic King steps out to 1800m, which is going to suit, while the booking of Nash Rawiller should only enhance his chances. Barrier 13 is sticky, but the bad gate can be offset by the class of the jockey, who is likely to look for cover in the first half of the field. With even luck, Atlantic King can win this.

Best Value Bet at Rosehill – Wollombi

Not often will we tip a two-year-old first starter, but we have seen enough from Wollombi at the trials to warrant a small bet on her in her race-day debut. The Peter & Paul Snowden-trained daughter of Extreme Choice has had two trials and was good in both. In her first trial, Andrew Adkins rode her quietly out the back and she worked home nicely without jumping out of the ground, but at her second trial under Tommy Berry, she really pinged out of the barriers, showed tactical speed and stuck on very well under not-too-vigorous riding to run third in a three-way go. The concern is that this filly has drawn the outside alley in the field of seven, but if she jumps well out of the barriers, Kerrin McEvoy could find the front quite easily, especially with blinkers on. The $7 appeals.
