The Parks track at Morphettville is scheduled to host a nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s South Australian racing expert presents his best bets and free quaddie selections for the meeting. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail out 6m from the 1000m to the winning post and then 3m for the remainder. Racing is set to commence at 12:17pm ACDT (12:47pm AEDT).
Morphettville Best Bet – Noname Lane
We do not need to wait too long for our best bet at Morphettville on Saturday, as the Will Clarken-trained Noname Lane steps out in the opening event over 1550m. Having gone down by a half-length in the Gawler Cup to Sign Of Ussuri, we expect the five-year-old son of Shamus Award to get himself back in the winner’s circle this weekend. From barrier six with Ben Price claiming 3kg, we expect Noname Lane to be settled close to the speed this time, and when the time is right, he should let down nicely and ultimately be too good for this lot. The $2 is a steal and we expect to see him jump at an odds-on quote.
Next Best Bet at Morphettville – Totally Discreet
The way the Phillip Stokes-trained Totally Discreet hit the line over 1000m at this track on October 23 suggested she was one to follow at her next start. The three-year-old Territories filly raced wide throughout on that occasion and still managed to take off a heap of ground to run an eye-catching second. From barrier five, we expect to see Kayla Crowther have her settled close to the rear of the field, where she can build through her gears approaching the home turn. With a similar turn of foot to what she showed last time out, Totally Discreet can charge home and bring up her maiden win at start four.
Best Value Bet at Morphettville – Canford
The Ryan Balfour-trained Canford is as honest as the day is long, and we expect he will run a handy race second-up from a spell. He was hardly a winning hope in the Listed John Letts Cup when beaten six lengths by Regalo Di Gaetano, and he should appreciate the drop back into BM82 grade. That was over 1800m, so the step up to 2250m here second-up from a spell looks ideal considering his natural staying ability. From barrier eight, look for Todd Pannell to have the Canford Cliffs gelding settled in the second half of the field. If Pannell can have him moving 600m out, expect to see Canford grinding down the centre of the track to catch them late.
