Explosive Jack

Having won the Tasmanian Derby, ATC Derby and SA Derby as a three-year-old, Explosive Jack looked to have the world at his feet. However, the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained runner has failed to set the racing world alight in his three runs back this campaign and is coming off a rather poor performance in the Caulfield Cup. He retains the services of recent Cox Plate winner John Allen, but in a race where he is coming up against genuine Group 1 stars, he may struggle.

When will Explosive Jack run in the Melbourne Cup?

The Melbourne Cup will be run on the first Tuesday in November despite all the COVID-19 chaos, but without the huge crowds that normally grace Flemington on Cup Day.

The one thing that hasn’t changed about the 2021 Melbourne Cup is the horses.

Once again The Cup has brought together an elite field of Melbourne Cup horses to contest the two mile race for $7.75 million.

Can Explosive Jack win The Cup?

He showed in his three-year-old season that he has a strong will to win, but Explosive Jack might find a handful of these a bit too good for his liking. We have no doubt he will see out the 3200m, but we are expecting a midfield finish for the two-time Group 1 winner.
