An eight-race card is scheduled for Cranbourne on Friday evening, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Victorian horse racing analyst presents his best bets and free quaddie selections for the night. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is out 9m for the entire circuit, and racing is set to commence at 5:15pm AEDT.
Cranbourne Best Bet – Rutherford
The Nick Ryan-trained Rutherford was a dominant winner at his second start in Australia at Kyneton on October 12, and we think he can go on with it here. Having chased home the smart Maracana the start prior, the former Japanese galloper put close to four lengths on his rivals last time out and looked to have plenty left in the tank. In the field of six on Friday, it hardly looks to be the hardest race Rutherford will contest, and from barrier six he should have no issue in finding the lead early on. His Kyneton win saw him settle outside the leader, but on Friday he should be the one dictating terms. He has a fair bit on this lot and should be too hard to run down.
Next Best Bet at Cranbourne – Peace Process
The Archie Alexander-trained Peace Process was a handy winner at Benalla on October 8 when needing to sustain a long run and on current form looks one of the better bets on Friday. Having finished in the top three in each of her last six starts, with two wins in that stretch, she has plenty of ability and should handle the rise into BM70 grade. Blaike McDougall will stick on board, which is an added bonus, and considering the Reliable Man mare has only missed the top two on one occasion from five starts on Good-rated tracks, she looks the one to be with in the second leg of the quaddie.
Best Value Bet at Cranbourne – Estoril Park
In the final race of the day, we are hoping the Leon & Troy Corstens-trained Estoril Park can send us home a winner first-up from a 20-week spell. The four-year-old daughter of Pride Of Dubai was last seen chasing home subsequent Group 1 winner I’m Thunderstruck when finishing third at Sale on June 9. She returns to the Cranbourne 1000m, a track and distance she has a win and a second-place finish at from two starts. Ben Allen will look to settle her outside the leader, and with a win to her name already in her career when first-up, she should prove too hard to run down.
