The night racing season in Victoria continues at Moonee Valley this Friday with an eight-race card scheduled for Manikato Stakes Night, and HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing expert presents his best bets and top quaddie numbers for the meeting. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail returns to the true position, and racing is set to start at 5:15pm AEDT.
Moonee Valley Best Bet – Thought Of That
The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Thought Of That is coming off a dominant 4.5-length victory at Sandown on September 25. He has put together successive wins at 1800m and the step up to 2040m looks ideal this deep into a campaign. Linda Meech hops on board and considering the Maher & Eustace stable continually churn out decent front-running stayers, it looks to be a perfect recipe for success early on Friday night. With a majority of his rivals wanting to get back and run on in the race, we expect the son of So You Think will get a quiet time of it out in front. If that is the case, good luck running him down.
Next Best at Moonee Valley – Imperial Lad
John Moloney and Linda Meech are set to combine in the final race of the night with the ever-reliable Imperial Lad. Having been worn down inside the final 100m by Agreeable at Caulfield on October 13, the five-year-old son of All Too Hard was still strong through the line. He returns to Moonee Valley, a track he won at on July 31, and despite this being his first crack at 1500m, he looks a clear and obvious bet. From barrier three, Meech will look to go forward and hunt for the rail and should prove hard to run down.
Moonee Valley Value Bet – Fine Dane
The second leg of the quaddie is the final of the Sprinters Country Cup Final, where the John Moloney-trained Fine Dane can run a cheeky race at a nice price. Fine Dane gave The Gauch a 1kg weight advantage when meeting at Sale on October 6, but this time around it will be The Gauch who carries more in the saddle. We expect Patrick Moloney will look to take the six-year-old Danerich gelding towards the lead and settle outside the leader.
When asked for an effort on the home turn, he can kick clear and hopefully put up a race-winning break.
