HorseBetting’s Victorian racing analyst has run his eye over Thursday’s eight-race card at Mornington and has come up with his best bets and top quaddie numbers with odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Soft 6, the rail is out 5m for the entire circuit, and the meeting is set to commence at 1:30pm AEDT.

Mornington Best Bet – Dream Queen

Craig Williams heads to Mornington for just the one ride, and it comes up in the last when he pairs up with the Ben & JD Hayes-trained Dream Queen. The former Kiwi is set to have her first start in Australia following a strong beginning to her career in New Zealand. Having not finished outside of the quinella in four starts, including two wins, the three-year-old Super Easy filly has shown she can lead the field up or settle off the speed and run on from midfield. From barrier nine, look for Williams to go forward, dictate terms and send us home a winner.

Next Best Bet at Mornington – Think Winning

Having chased home the smart Marimenko when finishing second at Bendigo on September 15, the Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Think Winning looks well placed to go one better here. Having settled fourth in running, he went close to levelling up to Marimenko but was outkicked to go down by just over two lengths. He steps up to the 1500m on Thursday, which looks ideal, and from barrier four, Dean Holland will look to give him the run of the race. With four weeks between runs and a strong form reference to boot, Think Winning should be too good for this lot at a nice price.

Best Value Bet at Mornington – Andalusia

Damien Oliver rarely heads to Mornington on a Thursday afternoon, but he does so this week with a handy book of rides including Andalusia for the Godolphin yard. Fresh off a four-month spell, the three-year-old Brazen Beau filly presents great value, despite not hitting the frame since her debut second back in December 2020. Having already gone around at the Mornington 1200m when finishing fifth on April 13, we are sure she will derive benefit from that experience and prove hard to beat here. From barrier nine, we expect Ollie to find her a spot with cover in the moving line, and with form behind Prince Alexander last campaign, she will be hard to hold out.
