Daily Mail: TAB Great Chase continues at The Meadows

A total of seven G3 TAB Great Chase heats are being run today/tonight and The Watchdog has picked one of the 525m qualifiers at The Meadows as the ‘Must Watch’ race of the day/evening.

Weblec Ranger (2 from 3 Trk/Dst) v G3 finalist Paddy Wants Pats (5 from 16 – 4 from 9 Trk/Dst) v Peaky Blazer (4 from 9) v McInerney promises to be a terrific battle in the third 525m heat at The Meadows.

Lunar Star v Perfectly Poised (3 from 3 Trk/Dst) v Weblec Flame (3 of last 4) and Mepunga Stellar v G3 finalist Weblec Star v Snapper Smith (2 of last 3) v G3 placegetter Ridge (won last 2) are even contests for the first and second G3 TAB Great Chase heats at The Meadows.

Fantastic Raven (14 from 34) is highly fancied to prevail, while Yeah Easy is also popular despite facing G3 runner-up and impressive last start winner Bounce Back (4 from 10 Box 5).

Sierra Foxtrot v Quest For More (3 of last 6) v Going Alright and G2 finalist Impulse Buy v Aston Sunset v Dundee Ember highlight the two 520m G3 TAB Great Chase heats at Cranbourne.

Ballarat is staging two 450m G3 TAB Great Chase heats with Balts Orson (3 from 5) v Boston Garden (3 from 7) v Fabriola Ximenez and Zippy Tesla v Indy Fido v Weblec Gem v Kanji Height set to provide tight tussles.

Multiple G2 finalist Dream Wizard (23 from 62) v Weblec Thunder should be a great duel, while G1 finalist Malayah Bale is expected to dominate.

Finch, Dr. Collette and Kraken Skye are the standout greyhounds at Bendigo in tonight’s 12 heats of the Battlers Cup according to The Watchdog.

The Watchdog says
🎤: Another great heat of the G3 TAB Great Chase and there appears to be quite a few chances. WEBLEC RANGER (1) has won two-of-three here and he is drawn to get all the breaks today. He went 5.05sec through the first marker when winning here in a handy 30.11sec in September and he appears to be getting stronger all the time, so he could press the 30 seconds barrier today. PEAKY BLAZER (4) is an interesting runner. He is yet to hit the scoreboard in his two runs here, but he has turned in some mighty performances on the provincial circuit and he will appreciate the smaller line-up. PADDY WANTS PATS (2) is a class act and he is likely to start favourite. He returned to the winners list with a dazzling 29.46sec Sandown Park win and he has won here previously in a blinding 29.83sec. He does his best work when he can lead and he may have trouble crossing the red early, so he may have to dig deep mid race to get the cash. MCINERNEY (8) rounds out the ‘big four’. He has always shown plenty of promise, however he has elevated his game in recent weeks. He can be hit or miss early but he did go 5.10sec to the first marker at Sandown Park last time and a similar performance here could see him settle in the top three and head to the back in a threatening position. This is one of the strongest heats to date and any one of these runners could take out the final on October 20.

The Watchdog says
🎤 : He can be a little hard to follow at times, but he does have a very good motor and he trialled well here last week. With little early speed drawn on either side, he should be able to settle in the top three early on and he represents enormous value for the win and a top two finish.

💰 $2.50 Place – PEAKY BLAZER
📍 The Meadows 🏁 Race 6 🔲 Box 4 📏 525m ⏱ 1:54pm     👀Must Watch Race 👀

The Watchdog says
🎤 : He meets an elite line-up here, but he is a powerful type and appears to be improving all the time. The inside division should hold the lead through the bend and that will allow him to drive through and if he can head to the back in the top four, he will make his presence felt.

The Watchdog says
🎤 : YEAH EASY (1) is as honest as they come, and he should be in the firing line from the outset and a top three finish looks likely. IMPULSE BUY (1) turned in a great performance when placed here recently and from the good draw, there should be no excuses today. SAILOR’S GIRL (1) is dropping considerably in class tonight and she is expected to lead for a long way. She is a little suspect in the last 30m, but she is getting stronger and should be able to hold on for a top two finish.
