What Swan Hill Races

When Monday, September 27, 2021
First Race 1pm AEST

A bumper nine-race card is scheduled for Swan Hill on Monday afternoon and Horsebetting’s Victorian horse racing tipping expert presents his best bets, top odds and free quaddie numbers. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail in the true position for the meeting commencing at 1pm AEST.

Swan Hill Best Bet: Marine One

Marine One has always shown plenty of ability and has been competing in Group or Listed company in all four career starts, so he should be simply too good for this maiden field. Formerly with Lloyd Kennewell and now with Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, the now three-year-old colt should be simply too good. The Capitalist colt finished third in the Group 3 Maribynong Plate on debut behind Finance Tycoon and Ingratiating and he simply just needs to run to that figure, and he’ll put a space on them in the opener at Swan Hull on Monday.

Next Best at Swan Hill: Spectacle

The Tony and Calvin McEvoy stable have been striking at 21% since August 1 and we anticipate their four-year-old mare Spectacle can add to that winning percentage. Having chased home the likes of Ecumenical, Media Award and Personal in Adelaide, she is another who is set to appreciate going around in a maiden at Swan Hill on Monday. This looks to be a smash and grab type of job for the Teofilo mare and from barrier eight, we expect Dean Holland will look to settle her in the first half a dozen and have her settled closer to the speed than what she has been for some time. Having placed in the Listed Clare Lindop Stakes last campaign, her class should shine through here and get a maiden win ticked off at start seven.

Best Value at Swan Hill: San Mauritz

Marita Lawson and Michael Poy combine in the third leg of the quaddie with five-year-old gelding San Mauritz who draws barrier six and looks to be the natural leader over 1300m. He chased home the smart Marimenko last time out when beaten 4.5 lengths, but his maiden win at Warracknabeal on August 28 when up on speed showed he has plenty of fight in him. He comes to this third up from a spell and will be rock hard fit and in a race where he maps to get a quiet time of it out in front, the only query will be if he can handle the 63.5kg and if he can, he could prove too hard to run down.
