Middle distance sensation Collinda Patty will be the main attraction at Wednesday afternoon’s meeting at The Meadows, where she looks set to continue her sensational recent form, despite dropping back to the sprint trip.
Trained by Jason Thompson, Collinda Patty (5 from 13) has created a huge impression in winning her last two starts, both over middle distanced, breaking former superstar Dyna Double One’s long-standing Sandown Park 595m record, before a last start victory in the G3 Speed Star (600m) match race series at The Meadows.
While Collinda Patty is reverting to 525m today, form expert The Watchdog isn’t expecting that to be a concern, tagging her duel with the stopwatch as the Must Watch ‘race’ of the day.
Lightly-raced Starlight Dusty (3 from 5) is also showing middle distance potential and is eyeing off a hat-trick after impressive victories at his last two starts over 595m at Sandown.
Eat My Dust (6 from 14) is another promising type capable of showing up at The Meadows.
Fernando Cazz (11 from 35), winner of the G1 Rookie Rebel and runner-up in the G1 Association Cup earlier in the year, will take centre-stage at Cranbourne as she continues along the comeback trail.
The toughest for Fernando Cazz to beat shapes as Bounce Back (12 wins).
At Ballarat, Dream Wizard (22 from 60 – 4 from 7 Box 6) gets a golden opportunity to return to the winners list after finishing a close second to superstar Tiggerlong Tonk in a G2 Healesville Cup heat at his last start.
Other key contenders at Ballarat include Soda Diamond (11 from 19 – 4 from 6 Box 4), which is striving to enhance his imposing strike rate in the ‘lucky last’, My Faith (18 from 63) and Aston Mireya (13 from 47 – 5 wins Trk/Dst).

MUST-WATCH RACE: The Oaks Function Centre
COLLINDA PATTY The Clock
The Meadows Race 6 525m 2:15pm
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538963/race/6
The Watchdog says : COLLINDA PATTY (2) has been a revelation since stepping up to the middle distance range, but she has shown in the past she can carve out serious time over 500m, so the drop back in distance today should not be too much of a concern. In her two runs since rising in distance she has captured the 595m track record at Sandown and the rich Speed Star series here. Today’s line-up is not overly strong and with the highly promising BOP BOP (1) expected to lead, ‘Patty’ should get a dream run through at the bend and then be ready to assume control as they head into the back straight. If she can gain a clear passage in the initial stages, she should be able to carve out 29.70sec or faster and that could grab the attention of some of the TAB Phoenix slot holders. BOP BOP (1) is the clear and obvious danger, and he is expected to make the race for the favourite, however he will make her work hard too. He was a brilliant 29.57sec Sandown winner two runs back and appears to be getting stronger with every run. He does not have ‘Patty’s’ elite talent just yet, but he can press the 30 seconds flat mark and that will see him fill the quinella spot. MAELYN BALE (4) and SNAPPER SMITH (7) are both handy types and they should round out the minor end of the money. They will both need some luck at the bend, but they are quite strong and should duke it out for third spot.

The Meadows Race 4 525m 1:40pm
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538963/race/4
The Watchdog says : ASTON GLOW (2) and TIME FOR PEACE (3) have plenty on their rivals and they are expected to dominate the event throughout. DARK COMPASS (4) and SHARNI’S MY GIRL (6) need to be respected, however we have also included INGA LEO (1) and CODE BLUE SUE (8) for some value.
$1 Win – ROMEO BALE
$1 Win – INGA MIA Lucky Longshot
The Meadows Race 5 Boxes 2 & 8 460m 1:57pm
TAB fixed odds: $3.50 Win (Romeo Bale)
TAB fixed odds: $10 Win (Inga Mia)
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538963/race/5
The Watchdog says : ROMEO BALE (2) has the speed to cross and lead and this is the easiest race he has contested for some time, so if he does find the top, he will prove hard to reel in. INGA MIA (8) owns a speedy 30.13 PB here and she can come out running at times, if she can time the start, she can cause a minor upset.
$1 Trifecta – 2 / 1 / 3,4,7 (33.33%)
The Meadows Race 6 525m 2:15pm Must Watch Race
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538963/race/6
The Watchdog says : COLLINDA PATTY (2) should get the gun run early and then light up her rivals mid race. BOP BOP (1) is expected to lead and he is showing plenty of promise, so he should be able to hold on for the quinella spot. MAELYNN BALE (4) and SNAPPER SMITH (7) are the obvious ones for third, but we have included MY DEWANA PENNY (3) at some value.
$1 Trifecta – 4 / 3,6,7 / 1,2,3,6,7 (8.33%)
The Meadows Race 7 525m 2:32pm
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538963/race/7
The Watchdog says : EAT MY DUST (4) is a powerful individual and if he gets a look at them mid race, he should prove too good. LITTLE TIGER (3), COTERIE (6) and MY MATE TIP (7) are the on-pace runners and one of those can fill second spot. BLAZING FURY (1) and JAGGER BALE (2) are both well drawn, so they must be included for third spot.
$1 Trifecta – 1 / 5,6,8 / 4,5,6,7,8 (8.33%)
The Meadows Race 8 600m 2:50pm
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538963/race/8
The Watchdog says : STARLIGHT DUSTY (1) continues to impress and is drawn to make every post a winner. REDZIN (5) and WAR DRUM EXPRESS (6) are both strong types and can add some value if MERLOT (8) happens to miss the kick. HORIZON PRINCESS (4) has early speed and can run a cheeky race at odds, so she has been included for third, whilst AFFAIR BIT (7) is better than his form reads, so he too needs to be included in the exotics.
$3 Win – COOL LIMIT
Cranbourne Race 3 Box 1 520m 3:57pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.40 Win
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538966/race/3
The Watchdog says : She can be a little hard to follow but she likes to scrape the paint and is a very powerful chaser. This race features several runners who are suspect over this journey, so she should get a nice sit mid-race and run over the top of them in the closing stages.
$1 Quaddie– 12.50% (8 combinations)
Ballarat Races 5 – 8 8:18pm
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538965/race/5
: 6
: 2,5,7,8
: 1
: 6,8
The Watchdog says : DREAM WIZARD (6) and ASTON MIREYA (1) appear to be strong anchors; they both have a clear class edge over their rivals and are expected to lead throughout. HABIB (8) is a strong chance in the second leg, however he can be hit or miss, so we have gone wide in that leg. MYSTIFY KICK (8) is a star prospect and will take a power of beating in the last leg, however ROYAL DEED (6) is racing with confidence and had to be included.
