Daily Mail: Battle royale

Highly promising sprinter King Of Glory (6 from 10) heads to Horsham today in his quest for four straight wins in today’s ‘Must Watch’ race.

Trained by David Geall, the son of former WA superstar female Pepper Fire (2 x G3 wins) faces some worthy challengers (see below).

Later at Horsham, punters can expect unsung hero Man Absconded (21 from 56) to take a power of beating.

Meanwhile, 400m track record holder Paua Of Oscar is the headline act at Warragul tonight, along with recent Horizon finalist Omega Dodge (4 of past 5).

Another highlight at Warragul is the clash between Combust (3 from 7), fresh from consecutive Best of Night wins at the track, and Wigram Road (3 from 8), a 22-month-old pup who won in brilliant time at Sale two runs back.

?MUST-WATCH RACE: CHS Group Grade 5 – Heat 1

XAVIEN BALE ? NIHARI BALE ? KING OF GLORY ?CRACKERJACK KEG

?Horsham ? Race 6 ? 485m ⏱ 4:50pm

Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960229/race/6

The Watchdog says ?: This may only be a Grade 5 heat, but it features some serious up and comers and it should be keenly contested throughout. KING OF GLORY (7) has always shown plenty of promise, however he has elevated his game in his past three starts. In those wins, he has demonstrated a devastating turn of foot soon after box rise, and he is hitting the line better each time. He has some highly credentialled kennel mates, however this bloke also has Country Cup potential. NIHARI BALE (3) has some blistering metro wins to his credit, and he has been racing with great confidence on the provincial circuit of late. He is likely to get back in the initial stages, but he has terrific track sense and he will take advantage of a rails run in the middle stages. XAVIEN BALE (2) is another who has gone to the next level in recent weeks, capping off a great stretch of form with a placing in the rich Winter Cup final at Cranbourne two runs back. There is not a lot of early speed drawn in the red, so ‘Xavien’ should find the rail early on and he can match motors with our top elect for most of the journey. And if ‘Nihari’ can get a clear passage in the middle stages, he should turn for home in third spot and that will make for a stirring battle up the home straight.

The Watchdog says ? : BABEL (5) owns a quick PB over the track/distance and she has the class edge, so a top two finish looks likely. TINGLE (1) has turned in some impressive performances and will be suited by the smaller line-up today. WAR OF WORDS (1) has a fair bit on his rivals and should be saluting at skinny odds. SKIBO REBEL (1) has plenty of talent and, from the inside draw, he will get every chance to finish in the top two.

???: 1,6,8

????: 1,5

The Watchdog says ? : ALUMNI (1) should pounce to the lead and get the job done. XAVIEN BALE (2) and KING OF GLORY (7) should set the tempo in the second leg, and they are expected to fight out the finish. SPRING BLUE (1) and WALDEMAR BALE (6) have a class edge in the third leg, but NINJA GIRL MIA (8) can spear the lids so she has been included for some value. NENNA TEARS (1) should lead up in the last leg, and ZIPPING WALTER (5) can work into the mix mid-race, so hopefully one of those two can get the cash.

The Watchdog says ? : She can be a little hard to follow at times, but she has a heap of talent and, when in the clear, she can carve out serious time. With little speed on her outside, she is expected to hold the early lead and that will allow her to zip away mid-race and prove too classy for her rivals.

TAB fixed odds: $2.00 Win
Form
?https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960230/race/11

The Watchdog says ? : CHILLY BIN (1) is drawn to get all the breaks and a top three finish looks likely. ZIPPING LIZ (1) has a tremendous record from this draw, and she has raced with a lot of confidence in recent months. With a wide runner in two, she will get plenty of cover early and take a power of beating from thereon.
