Daily Mail: Heavyweights to renew acquaintances

Two of the sport’s heavyweights – Yozo Bale v Qwara Bale – are drawn side by side in what looms as a fascinating contest at The Meadows tonight.

The dynamic duo have won four group races between them, and filled the quinella in last month’s Warrnambool Cup.    WATCH

Also at The Meadows, we see an exciting clash featuring Mepunga Reject and Hill Top Jack – who ran one-two in last weekend’s rich Cranbourne Winter Cup – up against G1 winner Playlist.

The gifted Special Talent will be out to stretch his winning streak to four READ, and there’s also a $21,000 Gr8 Eight staying race featuring with Hank The Hustler the greyhound to beat.

Meanwhile, at Geelong group class sprinter Eagles Nest Egg returns to the bush after a sizzling win at The Meadows last week.     WATCH

YOZO BALE ? QWARA BALE ? MR. FIX IT

?The Meadows ? Race 7 ? 525m ⏱ 8:38pm

The Watchdog says ?: Thrilling line-up and country cups champion YOZO BALE (1) looks drawn to figure prominently. He is a three-time country cup winner (two in Victoria), and he has been placed in numerous black type events. He showed he is still at the peak of his powers with a dashing 29.35sec Sandown Park win recently. He is so consistent at box rise and I expect him to hit the first marker in around 5.10sec or better, and that should be enough to see him lead. They will have to go sub-29.80sec to reel him in. If any greyhound is going to catch him, it will be the new ‘sprint queen’ QWARA BALE (2). After capturing the Group 2 Warrnambool Cup in dominant style, she has continued to go to the next level and has since added the Group 1 Sapphire Classic to her resume. She carved out a scorching 29.79sec win here last week and she did that coming from off the pace, so if she can get a nice run through behind the red early, it will be race on. MR. FIX IT (6) could be the ‘spanner’ in the works. He has won seven of 13 this track/distance and he is armed with dynamic early speed, so if the two top elects make a minor mistake at box rise, he will have the speed to cross and lead and he is a seriously bold front runner. GYPSY BUN (3) rounds out the serious chances. She will need a few things to go her way, but she does love The Meadows and she can find the rail soon after box rise.

Selections:  1 – 2 – 3 – 6

The Watchdog says ? : COLLINDA BEAST (7) makes his debut for the Thompson kennel, and he is expected to fire. DO IT (3) is airborne at present and will take a power of beating in the second leg. The third leg is a little more open, so we are hoping for some value, whilst EAGLE’S NEST EGG (4) looks well placed in the last leg, however we have included the inside two runners as a saver.

? $2 Win – YOZO BALE
? The Meadows ? Race 7 ? Box 1 ? 525m ⏱ 8:38pm               ***Must Watch Race***
TAB fixed odds: $3 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960223/race/7

The Watchdog says ? : YOZO BALE (1) is just so consistent and from the inside draw, he is expected to hold the lead and he will be carving out serious time out in front. QWARA BALE (2) and MR. FIX IT (6) are both huge talents, but they will need a few things to go their way in the initial stages, so the $3 on offer for ‘Yozo’ appears to be value.

? $2 Win – LALA IVORY
? The Meadows ? Race 9 ? Box 3 ? 525m ⏱ 9:22pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.80 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960223/race/9

The Watchdog says ? : LALA IVORY (3) showed enormous potential early in her career and, after rising in class, she has not experienced a lot of luck in running. Tonight, she finds herself in a race where there is limited early pace drawn on her inside, so with a clean getaway she can find the early lead and rail up soon after box rise. She is awfully hard to get past when in the clear and can go sub-30 seconds, which should be enough to see her score.

? $4 Place – GINTOKI BALE
? The Meadows ? Race 11 ? Box 4 ? 525m ⏱ 10:01pm
TAB fixed odds: $2.20 Place
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/565960223/race/11

The Watchdog says ? : GINTOKI BALE (4) is still learning what it is all about, but he has turned in some impressive performances of late and he is very strong in the run home. With the inside division expected to hold a prominent spot at the bend, he should get a nice run through and head to the back straight in a threatening position. The last 200m is where he does his best work and I think the $2.20 is value.
