Drawn to destruct

Today at The Meadows we get to witness the promising Destruction (won 9 from 18) exit the red box for the first time in his exciting career, and The Watchdog believes the Robert Camilleri-trained 26-month-old speedster is set to show his group-class potential.

Also at The Meadows this afternoon we’ll see six-time Group 1 finalist Christo Bale chase a hat-trick of wins in Race 11 at 5.39pm.

Other highlights around the state today include appearance of impeccably bred 20-month-old first starter Whiz Out – a daughter of former superstar female Zoom Out – line up in Race 1 at Ballarat at 6.56pm, while in the very next race a host of young guns do battle in the $12,050 Vic Bred Maiden Final.

Later at Ballarat, a pair of prolific winning kennelmates face off with Rilynn Bale (27 from 54) up against Man Absconded (19 from 52) in Race 11 at 10.12pm.

The Watchdog says ? : DESTRUCTION (1) is a seriously hot prospect, and he comes into this race having won his past two in strong company on the country circuit. He runs into a couple of handy ones today but at his best he has a fair bit on these and from the inside draw there should be no excuses. He can get through the first marker in around 5.10sec and that will see him hold the lead. From there he can then go into overdrive as they charge to the second marker. With an impressive 29.92sec PB at The Meadows to his name already, I think he has the potential to get down to the 29.70sec mark and he is going to be a major player in feature events in the near future. ALARM RESPONSE (6) has been impressive in his past two runs here and he will apply some heat early on, whilst BRADY’S SHOUT (7) is never far away in this sort of company and he can add some value to your multis. Hopefully, the top elect does everything right at box rise and he can give the clock a shake.

The Watchdog says
? : ZIPPING RAFFERTY (1) is still learning what it is all about, but he has a big motor and is expected to lead throughout from the good draw. UNCLE’S GIRL (1) turned in a great performance here when resuming last week and she is drawn to figure prominently again. MERLOT (2) has turned in some great performances of late and he will get a dream run through behind the red early on.

The Watchdog says ? : DESTRUCTION (1) is very short odds and is expected to lead throughout, while BRADY’S SHOUT (7) is suitably drawn out wide and he can run into second or third and add a little bit of value to the exotics.

The Watchdog says ? : He is normally better suited to a longer journey, but this race does feature a lot of early speed and a few of those on-pace runners are suspect in the closing stages. If he can avoid bother at the first bend, he should head to the back straight in the top five and can pick off a few of the stragglers late in the race.

The Watchdog says ? : We can go skinny in the first two legs as SHIMA PUNGA (4) and TRENDING AIR (1) have a fair bit on their respective rivals and should be leading throughout. The last two legs are more open, and fingers crossed we can get some value in there.
