650 track record broken at Warrnambool

Weblec Haze broke Warrnambool’s 650 metre track record on Saturday night in the Seaside Distance Challenge.

Formally held by Pennsylvania Is in a time of 36.966sec, Weblec Haze took 2.5 lengths off the record lowering it to 36.816sec.

Trained by Jeff Britton, Weblec Haze is a son of Barcia Bale and Weblec Belle. He was bred by the Champagne Partnership and is owned by the Weblang Syndicate.

Weblec Haze had four starts over the track and distance but had not won there until his track record performance.

The track record capped off a big night of feature racing at Warrnambool which was kicked off by the $11,050 GRV Vic Bred Maiden final which was won by the Andrea Dailly trained Shima Classic.

Shima Classic is a daughter of Mepunga Blazer and Geelong Cup winner Shima Song.

The $14,250 Warrnambool Summer Sizzle (390m) was won by local greyhound Aston Minerva for Raymond Drew.

A daughter of Fernando Bale and Oakvale Destiny, Aston Minerva lowered her personal best time on the track to 21.86sec in her ninth career start and fifth victory.
