Former apprentice jockey Stephen Brown Jr has been moved from intensive care to a ward in Royal Melbourne hospital.
Brown Jr was airlifted to Royal Melbourne almost three weeks ago on September 18 after a fall in a jump-out at Wangaratta and placed in an induced coma.
He suffered punctured lungs, three broken ribs, a crack in his neck as well as a head injury.
“Stephen Brown Jr has been moved from ICU to a ward at Royal Melbourne Hospital,” the Victorian Jockeys Association said on Monday.
“He continues to get the best care.”
Brown rode 40 winners during his apprenticeship when indentured to his father Stephen.
His last race ride was at The Valley last November but he remained a registered track rider.
