Sheeza Belter ready to show her toughness in the 2022 J.J. Atkins
Sheeza Belter salutes in the BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes for Peter and Paul Snowden. Picture: Darren Winningham. There’s no doubt Sheeza Belter showed her toughness in the way she stormed home to win the Sires’ Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm last start on May 28. But the Randwick-based Peter and Paul Snowden team knew she was something special before the two-year-old filly first ran for them in April. That was because she travelled across the continent from Perth via truck and, despite the long journey, her attitude was excellent. That…
Desleigh Forster aiming for second Group 1 win with Apache Chase
Kingsford Smith Cup-winning trainer Desleigh Forster with jockey Jim Byrne. Picture: Grant Peters – Trackside Photography. Desleigh Forster was almost lost for words after winning her first Group 1 race – the Kingsford Smith Cup – at Eagle Farm two weeks ago. But just because that monkey has now been shaken off her back, it doesn’t mean she will not bring her super-competitive edge to Saturday’s Stradbroke Handicap at the same venue. Forster’s four-year-old gelding has been given $10 odds by Palmerbet to win the $1.5 million feature sprint over…

Any jockey would feel apprehensive returning to the saddle following a fall. Darwin-based apprentice Jade Hampson falls into that category with the 18-year-old making her comeback at Fannie Bay on Saturday following a tumble on Anzac Day. You would think she would be nervous and surely getting to sleep on Friday night would have been difficult, but Hampson can’t wait. The teenager has four rides on…

Where possible, NZTR will look to split races in the near future to provide opportunities for those horses that have missed out.
Unwanted filly delivers for reluctant breeder
Renowned Australian Veterinarian Dr Chris Lawler admits to initially being reluctant to venture into the breeding game though after breeding Group One-winning filly Gypsy Goddess, he is enjoying the ride. Since her debut last October, Gypsy Goddess has been beautifully managed by David Vandyke to race nine times for six wins and three placings. She was unbeaten in her first five starts in Queensland, which included a win in the Gr.3 BRC Grand Prix Stakes (2100m). A trip to Sydney followed where she encountered wet tracks but still managed to…
