Former halfback now racehorse owner and sponsor

By Dave Di Somma, Harness News Desk  Some people are born into racing. Others, like former Crusaders and Hurricanes halfback Tyson Keats, marry into it. And for someone who says he “doesn’t know much” he’s now getting involved at various levels of the sport. After marrying the then Chelsea Jones, Keats found himself part of the extended Jones clan, one of racing’s most famous families. Coventina Bay thriving ahead of Cup

The abandonment and subsequent transfer of the Gr.1 Doomben Cup (2000m) to Eagle Farm this Saturday could be a blessing in disguise for Coventina Bay (NZ) (Shamexpress). The race was initially set to run at Doomben on Wednesday following Saturday’s abandonment, however, that meeting has also been abandoned. With 30mm of consistent rain over the past 24 hours, it was decided the Doomben track was too waterlogged to proceed with the meeting following an inspection. The abandonment of Wednesday’s meeting will result in a “Super Saturday” program at Eagle Farm…

Racing royalty combines for memorable success

Members from two of Australasia’s most famous racing families with winning ties to the Gr.1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) joined forces for a memorable victory at Hawera.
